Lord Nelson 2 (0) Foresters AFC 3 (2)
A cracking start to the 2012 league campaign with a convincing win over the team at the top of the table to keep up our 100% record of away wins.
Matty Cottam provided an outstanding MOM performance and came away with a much deserved brace, after scoring a beauty with the first from yet another assist from Pikey who is running away with them so far this season. Ash Simmonds cooly slotting home the 3rd with much to do following a great through ball from Pikey yet again!
A real team performance, with some solid performances all over the park from everyone.
Huge thanks to our strikeforce bench, the 2 x Robbies (not Ronnies) and Reggie for their continued support as they didn't get on, however their chances will come no doubt!
Goals - Matty Cottam x 2, Ashley Simmonds.
Assists - Jay Pike x 2, Ashley Simmonds.
MOM - Matty Cottam - Reinstated into the team this week, scoring a brace and covered every blade of grass - thoroughly deserved.
Wooden Spoon - Matty Long - For attempting to do a Xabi Alonso and score from the half way line...but ended up like Geoff Thomas's effort in an England shirt!
08/01/2012 - Hants Cup R4
Trade Rifles 5 (1) Foresters AFC 1 (0)
A poor performance by all concerned, including the referree who seemed to give nothing our way! Up against a very good side but just couldn't get into our stride.
Our Hants Cup run comes to end at the 4th hurdle!
Goals - Ashley Simmonds.
Assists - Rob Smith.
MOM - Russell Grant - (TBC)
Wooden Spoon - Gav Salmon - Brought on at half time to sure up the midfield, assisted with 2 x opposition goals and conceded 4 in all in the 2nd half to lose the tie. Shocker!
04/12/11 - Hants Jnr A Cup R3
Foresters AFC 2 (1) Burridge 0 (0)
A convincing win remain in the cup competition. Some enforced changes due to injury and absence did not disrupt the seasons preparations for a nice little cup run. Rarely threatened at the back thanks to a tight nit defence and Man of the Match performance from Alex Hardie.
Ashley Simmonds gave Foresters a slender advantage coming in at half time with a scrappy goal via a corner from Alex Veck.
Peter Cole then wrapped the game up in the 75th minute from a slide rule pass from Simmo, PJ then avoided 2 tackles before cooly sidestepping the keeper and slotted it home to extend the lead.
Goals - Ashley Simmonds, Peter Cole.
Assists - Alex Veck, Ashley Simmonds.
MOM - Alex Hardie - Class act at the back who didn't put a foot wrong all game.
Wooden Spoon - Matty Long for his woeful left foot shot attempt!

Otter FC 0 (0) Foresters AFC 2 (0)
A convincing win to keep up our 100% record away from home, even if the scoreline does not suggest that this was the case. The gaffer was forced into rejigging the starting eleven and the formation due to some latecomers!
The first goal came by way of free kick specialist Jay Pike testing the keeper with one of his curling efforts, only for him to palm it out to the always mobile Matty Cottam who simply slotted it past the keeper to open the scoring.
The second was also from a set peice with PJ expertly delivering a pinpoint corner onto the head of that man again, Matty Cottam who is simply on fire at the moment!
A solid team performance all round with the added bonus of our first clean sheet of the season!
Special thanks go to Chris Wyatt and Russell Grant who were simply not able to get a game because of the "Real Madrid" style bench and the fact that we had 17 players at our disposal.
Goals:- Matty Cottam x 2
Assists:- Jay Pike, PJ
MOM:- Gav Salmon - A real shocker!! Out of position and out of shape!!
Wooden Spoon:- Chris Wyatt for arriving only 5 mins before kick off with others in tow - clocks go back next week so no excuses!

Foresters AFC 2 (0) Lord Nelson (2) 5
A minor blip in our season's campaign for the league title. 2-0 down at half time against a very attacking and recently promoted team in Lord Nelson. Dan Cole had to be withdrawn at half time which meant Charlie was in between the sticks in the 2nd half. Another good solid performance from Matty Cottam who appears to be in the form of his life!
Goals:- Matty Cottam, Ash Simmonds.
Assists:- Jay Pike, Alex Veck
MOM:- Matty Cottam - Never stopped running and covered every blade of grass. Capped off with a nice goal too!
Wooden Spoon:- Charlie Long for missed Pen and letting in some soft goals!

Hamble Club 1 (1) - Foresters AFC 2 (1)
A crucial win against our local rivals in this early season derby match. Hamble took the lead early on with a good team goal, which was then quickly followed up by a Long brothers combination of Matty supplying a "David Silva" like through ball for Charlie to "run" onto and slot home past the keeper with a cool finish to make honours even at half time.
The winning goal came courtesy of a classic counter attack whereby Jay Pike flicked the ball onto Ash Simmonds in his own half who then roasted 2 or 3 players with his pace and touch before guiding the ball in at the far post (courtesy of a deflection or two!)
A big thank you to Alex Hardie who was unable to get on for today's game as it was all so tight.
Goals:- Charlie Long, Ash Simmonds.
Assists:- Matty Long, Jay Pike
MOM:- Jay Pike - classic captains example showing sheer grit and determination to force the win for the team.
Wooden Spoon:- Tom Houston for throwing up and not handling his beer the night before! (bad form)
02/10/2011 - Hants Cup
Foresters AFC 4 (0) - Castle FC 2 (1)
After yet another slow start and being 0-1 down at half time which could have been a hell of a lot more, changes were made to go on and win the game against a decent side in the second half. A change upfront and a reshuffle in midfield seemed to change the game in our favour.
A quality header from Granty, followed by a superb free kick from dead ball specialist Jay Pike gave us the lead. Quickly followed up with some sublime finishing from Simmo for both his goals which gave us the win through to the next round of the competition.
A big thank you to Tom Houston for being available but not able to get on due to a "Real Madrid" style bench!
Goals:- Russell Grant, Jay Pike, Ash Simmonds x 2.
Assists:- Jay Pike, Adam Thomas, Matty Long, Alex Hardie.
MOM:- Ash Simmonds - Took both goals extremely well and made a real difference in the 2nd half.
Wooden Spoon:- Dan Cole (Sorry pal but a howler for the first goal!)

Foresters AFC 2 (0) - Bitterne Park Rangers 2 (0)
After a slow start we took a comfortable lead with goals from Granty and Blount assisted
by Charlie and Pikey.
Bitterne seemed to gain the upper hand to after the undeserved sending off of Alex Veck,
scoring two late goals and the game ended up as a draw.
Goals:- Russell Grant, Mark Blount
Assists:- Charlie Long, Jay Pike
MOM:- Russell Grant - Took his goal very well and controlled the back four.
Wooden Spoon:- Dan Cole (Spilt the cross for their equalizer!!)

Foresters AFC 6 (2) - Otter (2) 2
A dodgy start to the season in the first half was quickly rectified in the second. Some quality football in the 2nd half combined with a quality run and finish from Matty Long and postage stamp free-kick from PJ.
Goals:- Rob Smith (2) Charlie Long, Peter Cole, Jay Pike, Matty Long
Assists:- Charlie Long (3), Adam Thomas, Jay Pike
MOM:- Charlie Long (Begrudgingly!) but 90 mins, 1 goal and 3 assists!!
Wooden Spoon:- Matty Cottam - audacious effort, poorly executed!

Burridge XI 2 (0) Foresters AFC 5 (3)
Once again a great footballing display from the team, who were shorter on numbers this week and played with the standard 4-4-2 formation but still managed to play some quality football with some cracking performances, most notably from skipper Jay Pike (LM) and Tom Houston (CB)
Goals:- Jay Pike (2), Tom Houston, Alex Veck, Rob Smith
Assists:- Jay Pike (2) Matty Long
MOM:- Jay Pike/Tom Houston (TBC)
Wooden Spoon:- Mark Blount (for being late...again!)
21/08/2011 - Friendly
Landguard Rovers 3 (1) Foresters AFC 6 (3)
Another convincing display with a full strength squad and new formation against a solid opposition. Some solid performances once again including Alex Hardie (LB) Tom Houston (CB) and most notably vice captain Adam Thomas (CM)
Goals:- Adam Thomas (3), Russell Grant, Tom Houston, Matty Cottam
Assists:- Adam Thomas; Peter Cole; Alex Veck; Jay Pike
MOM:- Adam Thomas
Wooden Spoon:- Mark Blount (for missing a sitter!)
